Dievole 2014 Chianti Classico
Here’s a terrific and expressive Chianti Classico from a producer to watch. A blend of Sangiovese with six percent Canaiolo and four percent Colorino, this was fermented with native yeast large format Slavonian oak casks and aged in untoasted French oak casks (41 hectolitre capacity) for 14 months. The result is a pleasing red wine with fruity and floral character and firm structure — all hallmarks of well-made Sangiovese. This enjoyable and layered red is a testament to the quality winemaking at this estate even in the most challenging of vintages.
