Controlled by the Berger-Rive family for four generations, the Manoir de Mercey estate is located in Cheilly-lès-Maranges, the southernmost village of the Côte de Beaune. Chateaubeau is the name of a four-hectare block with Pinot Noir vines planted in 1957. This solid value red Burgundy offers pure cherry and raspberry fruit with upfront oak influence and youthful tannins. It’s a style that’s drinking now, but would benefit from a year or two in bottle to show its best. Recommended. 89/100
