Joseph Drouhin 2014 Côte de Beaune-Villages
ON $29.95 (325126)
The reds from Burgundy's 2014 vintage show appealing elegance and finesse that makes them really enjoyable right now. Drouhin’s Côte de Beaune-Villages is a prime example, making the most of its bright, juicy character and supple texture. Produced with a mix of estate and purchased fruit from a spectrum of the 16 villages allowed in the appellation (Aloxe-Corton, Beaune, Pommard and Volnay being the exceptions). Extended barrel maturation of twelve to fifteen month, with only 10 percent new oak, contributes nicely to the spicy complexity adding layers to the fruity and earthy expression of Pinot. This is solid selection to enjoy over the course of fall and winter.
