Painted Rock Estate Winery 2014 Red Icon
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia
BC $47.79 ON $76.83
Painted Rock’s top-of-the-line Red Icon turned a corner with the 2014 vintage. The growing season and increasing knowledge of the meticulously farmed parcel on the Skaha bench in Penticton combined to produce the most approachable and opulent Red Icon upon release. There’s impressive balance, length, intensity and complexity here (checking all of the BLIC boxes that define a truly great wine), with layers of fruit and fragrant spices including telltale Okanagan sage brush on offer. You can bet the wine’s pedigree and character will continue to bloom with time in bottle. A blend of 33 percent Merlot, 21 percent, Cabernet Franc, 19 percent Malbec, 16 percent Petit Verdot, 11 percent Cabernet Sauvignon that was aged in French oak for 18 months (30 percent new), this is a wine that’s drinking now, with the capacity to develop through 2027. 1,153 cases. Highly Recommended.
