Trinchero Winery 2012 BRV Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Grown
Napa Valley, California, United States
ON $124 (514224)
BRV refers to Bob, Roger and Vera, the second generation of the Trinchero family making wine in the Napa Valley. The BRV Cabernet is a blend of fruit from two high altitude estate vineyards, Haystack on Atlas Peak (1,500 feet above sea level in the Vaca Mountains) and Cloud’s Nest on Mount Veeder (1,500 feet above sea level on the Mayacamas Mountain side). This flagship wine is a ripe and powerful red, marked by the rich flavours common to mountain grown Cabernet: licorice, black olive and concentrated dark fruit notes. Eighteen months in French oak (75 percent new) has imparted appealing cigar box and cedar aromas and flavours. An impressive Cabernet, this has excellent texture and concentration without feeling too heavy or extracted — everything is nicely in place. It’s an impeccably made wine that clearly will age for a long time if you have the patience. Highly Recommended.
