Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a value hunter's dream as it offers much of the same rich, flavourful expression found in Napa at a fraction of the price. The new vintage of Simi's estate grown Landside Vineyard Cab offers appealingly concentrated ripe fruit, spice and new oak notes on the nose and palate. The layers of flavours offer nice complexity and character, a function of a judicious blend of 81 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, eight percent Malbec, four percent Merlot, four percent Petit Verdot, two percent Cabernet Franc and one percent Tannat. The vibrant fruit flavours are so attractive that there's no reason not to drink now, but this certainly has the stuffing to age if you're interested in seeing what tertiary notes develop after it sheds its baby fat.
